Debt elimination online can help you get back on track quickly and easily. You can follow these easy tips to help you get your debt back in your control.

Debt Elimination Online Tips

  1. Evaluate your debt. List all of the debt that you owe. Gather your bills and financial statements. Using a spreadsheet, list the credit card, loan or debt in the first column. List the debt that has the highest interest rate at the top and the second highest interest rate goes beneath that and so on until you have listed all of your debt.

List the interest rates in the second column. In the next column, list the minimum payment that you are supposed to make on each account. In the last column, list the payoff amounts for each account. This gives you a perspective on your debt and what you owe.

Add all of the minimum payments so that you know how much you need each month to meet the minimum payments of the debt that you owe.

  2. Get a copy of your credit report. Your credit report can shed a lot of light on where you stand financially. You should periodically check your credit report to make certain that there are no errors and that it is maintained appropriately.

  3. Determine your monthly expenses. Add up the bills that you have each month. These are NOT bills that you have to use your credit cards to pay; these should come directly from your monthly income.

Include expenditures such as:

  • Mortgage/rent
  • Utilities
  • Phone
  • Food
  • Insurance
  • Fuel

Other possible payments that you may need to include (but it may be wise to cut some of these if you can until your debt is paid or at least until you get a little ahead on your bills):

  • Cable
  • Cell phone
  • Memberships
  • Internet
  • Tuition for school
  • Add all of this up and write down the figure. This is how much you need to pay each month in order to live.
  • Calculate your income. Add up how much money you bring home each month from your paycheck and other sources. If your income is variable because you have a job that pays by the hour and your hours work may fluctuate, then average your income over a three month period. That amount is what you will allocate to your monthly expenses and your bill repayment.

From your monthly income, subtract the amount that you determined in the previous tip for living expenses. The amount that remains is the amount that you can allocate to your debt elimination efforts.

  • Create a repayment plan. Add your minimum payments required for your debt, then subtract that from the amount that you have designated to allocate to your debt elimination. Make your minimum payments on all of your bills except for the first one on your list (the one with the highest interest rate).

For this particular bill you will add to the monthly payment with any money that is left over after you have made all of your payments. This means that you could potentially even double up on your payments for that bill. When it is paid off, strike it off of the list and move on to the next debt, attacking it in the same manner.
